Pest Inspections for a New Home

If you are moving soon or you have just bought a house, you want to make sure everything is just right when you move in. Most people will take time updating the paint and flooring as well as installing appliances and other necessities. Although these are great tasks to undertake before the big move you also want to be sure that you have a pest inspection done too.

There can be a serious pest infestation in the home especially if the home was not treated by the previous owner. It can also be caused by the house sitting for some time before the new owners move in. Once you start to move your items in, the infestation can get worse and also start to take over your belongings as well.

What are the most common pests to find in a new home?

Most Common Pests Found by New Homeowners or Tenants When They Move in.

Termite Inspection

One of the most destructive pests in the United States is the termite. They cost homeowners millions of dollars in repairs from the major damage they cause! Termites can stay hidden and really show no signs until you have a serious amount of trouble.

Termites are hard to find and even harder to treat. There are specialized treatments that work to kill off the termite colony. Be sure to have your home inspected for termites before you get moved in and even as part of the purchase agreement.

Detecting Mice & Rats

Another pests that seem to be a problem when someone moves into a house are rats and mice. They are scavengers that are out looking for a place to live and food to eat. A mouse is the most common and will get into the walls and the attic to set up a nest.

The nest will be made up of the insulation in the walls and the wiring as well. These rodents are often found feeding on food and garbage that is left over.

Ant Infestations

If a home is left to sit for some time, ants are going to start to show up. They can be found climbing up the walls or limbs of the trees nearby. They can get in through a very small hole or gap and start the hunt for crumbs and food.

A small amount of food left behind is enough to feed the ants and will easily entice them.

Cockroach Inspections

If you don’t want to have a problem with cockroaches in your new home make sure that you have the home treated by a professional. When someone moves out they are likely to have left trash around the house even in bags that can be inviting cockroaches into the house.

Cockroaches are a pest that can stay hidden and get under appliances and other pieces of furniture as well as cabinets.

Pest Inspection & Treatment

If you are ready to move into a new house or apartment, make sure that you have it treated and inspected for pests of all sorts.
